I've seen many complaints about this Behr product over the past couple of years. Not too sure what, exactly you want Behr to do other than offer to replace the product.

They have no idea how you prepared the deck for application nor what environmental and/or structural/landscape conditions you have. The problems you describe are usually caused by moisture invasion of the deck, either from the ground or otherwise.

In a situation such as yours I would hire someone to take off the bad finish and prepare it for a new application, but use a different brand and see what happens in the next few years. If you get the same results you will know the product most likely is not at fault but something else.

Followed all the tips and requirements. The paint didnt fill in the cracks properly and worse yet, my deck is chipping after all our hard work only 3 weeks later. We bought 7 gallons. It is a very expensive product for it to not work properly. Over $35 a gallon. I feel very ripped off and discouraged

this is what happens when people believe mass marketing companies like Behr. All of their products are substandard. All you are really paying for is the marketing.

Behr in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania - Really upset consumer

Just had a painting contractors here to look at our deck that overcoat was applied to two years ago. The cost of. Having to redo the deck is astronomical! The overdeck is all peeling and needs to be sanded off and all redone. Of course it will not be done again with Behr overdeck. Needs to be removed sanded and all redone. Sure wish I could bill Behr!! Behr - Peeling deckover paint

like so many others my behr deckover paint started to peel in a short time. I touched it up and still peeled more, the whole deck looks awful. I would like a refund, but the websites gives you a run around. The number for customer service can not be reached.

Applied per instructions. Looked awesome at first, but at about a year it started peeling off and continues to peel off to this day. It was painted early 2016, late 2015. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!! ABSOLUTE DISASTER!! Had a bid by professional painter to redo... $6,000!!!! Would have to sand completely off and start over.

A few years ago I painted my deck with Behr Deck over. First I washed the deck with deck wash and then sanded it completely to make sure no dirt, prior paint or stains were present. Our deck is 40' X 45' with a 16'X 32' pool in the middle so it was a summer project. I...

When I moved into my house in December 2015, the deck was new but unpainted. In the spring of 2016, I hired a guy from the internet to paint my porch. He washed the deck with the wood cleaner, I picked out my paint color. I paid the man, I think was named Jim, for the...

anything said in their advertising about being #1 or "the best" is just marketing at best. A bold faced lie at the worst.

Of course they are going to say they are the best in their advertising, just like every other company on earth says! But, when they are comparing their product against the "competition", they are just comparing to other cheap box store brands (Sherwin Williams included) and not against the best paints there actually are, unless they test against that brands highest priced product so they can say that they are not good buys because they are expensive. Also, Consumer Reports, although they make the claim that they do not accept any money or do any advertising of the paints they test, is lying just as bad! They don't put advertising in their magazine because the whole damn magazine is the advertisement!

The paint companies actually have to pay a "testing" fee to get their paints tested, and if their paint tests better than the others they have to pay an additional fee to get the results put in the magazine! And the highest fee paid gets the highest rating! There are some paint companies not willing to play this "game" to promote their products. They are the ones with the good products that don't have to rely on a huge scam to sell their products.

I suggest searching them out.

Benjamin Moore, Pratt & Lambert, California, even the second largest paint company in the US PPG doesn't play the game. The ONLY product line tested by CR magazine that is made by PPG is Olympic, and it flat out sucks and is basically put in the ratings to bulk out the list so it looks legit.

I initially put Smooth Deck Over on my small 8x5 deck. The wood was 5 years old, so I cleaned it with Behr # 63 wood cleaner, let it totally dry (it was a hot summer) no rain for 10 plus days. On the 5th day after being thoroughly dry, I applied the first coat. The...

Yup. Traps moisture and rots the wood.

For almost ten years now. And they're still selling all that they can make. Amazing isn't it. But as long as people flock to Home depot because Consumer Reports magazine rates them "#1" they will keep on selling it.

Just like all the other *** behr paint they sell. Until people wake up and realize what a scam Behr and Home depot have going on it will continue.
