We did an over haul to our 16 x 20 deck. ( Replaced all worn boards and pressure washed the deck) Two months later we painted the deck with Behr deck paint from Home Depot and it looked like a million dollars.
The stairs coming off of the deck got the same over-haul except we painted the top of the steps with Behr textured deck paint so our dog would have good traction going down the stairs. About 3 months later we were running a new soft gas line under the deck and noticed a white spot on the edge of the 4x4 that had just been replace during the overhaul. It was located at the junction of the deck and the stairs and the textured paint had contact with it. We then watched the wood rot in a year and a half at a rate that sounds like absolute fiction.
Behr reps would not come out to see it! They want me to find my receipts and cut samples for them and they claim that mold travels through the air and settles on wood surfaces....etc.
The truth is obvious, every board that I had to custom cut to fit, that then had contact with the textured paint rotted *** near over-night. I have 14 foot boards that rotted on the end that I cut but the rest of the board looks like a year and a half old board.
